This is a post from the Beautiful Wife!
Last week all the forecasters could talk about was snow. We were going to have 1 to 4 inches.
To those of you who live in really cold places, this amount is nothing. But in Middle Tennessee over an inch usually closes schools, sells out milk & bread and makes for some crazy driving!
Every news channel talked about it being the ‘Blizzard of 2010′… school districts
closed schools before any snow had fallen and most kids went to sleep
excited about the idea of waking in a winter wonderland. However, just like
many things in life, things turned out different then we expected.
When we all woke up and ran to the window to see the winter wonderland, and you can imagine our disappointment when not one snow flake had fallen. The thing that we had expected to happen, didn’t.
When the Expected Doesn’t Happen
We expect a pay raise and it doesn’t happen, we expect to take a vacation and then we can’t, as newlyweds we expect that we will never have a fight — “We love each other too much!!” — but guess what, life happens and we fight.
What do you do when something turns out different then you expected? Do you spend the rest of the day being disappointed? Being mad? Or, do you look at what did happen and try to make the best of it?
After our no-snow event, It would have been to easy to mope around the house, complaining about how it didn’t snow. But instead, we made the best of what did happen. Because it didn’t snow we were able to get out, run errands, meet with friends and enjoy the morning. And guess what… in the afternoon, the snow did fall, the winter wonderland came to life, and we enjoyed it even more because it wasn’t what we expected!
When life turns out different than you expected, make the best of it and enjoy!
