When I think of the word “MIRACLE”, I think…instantaneous.
I think, Zap, ALL is better. KAPOW! Now life is totally different.
I think, ‘Touched by Jesus, I can see’.
I think, ‘If I touch the robe, I won’t bleed anymore’.
When you think of the word Miracle…what do you think of?
Do you think B-I-G miracles, or everyday things? The miracle of the sun coming up, or the miracle of sight being given?
THE LONG SLOW MIRACLE
Perhaps I don’t give enough credit to the small miracles that happen every day.
I want the big KAPOW! miracle, and miss the miracles in front of me.
The miracle of my beautiful wife™ still loving me and believing in me.
The miracle that my heart was changed when we got married, and I threw away all my Porn mags and videos.
The miracle that 3 years later I decided it was really time to get after it and joined a men’s accountability group.
The miracle that I have friends that I can meet with that I can really talk to honestly.
The miracle of a computer dying and making a promise to myself and my beautiful wife™.
The miracle of a new appreciation and love for my beautiful wife™, and our marriage.
The miracle of wanting to be a Better man, Better husband, Better father.
The miracle of not desiring to go hunt out porn on the internet.
If I Get the KAPOW! I miss the other miracles
See, I wanted the quick KAPOW! miracle…the ‘one touch’ and all my issues and crap would just go away.
I believe that miracles can happen in an instant. That God can, and does, show up and lives change in a snap.
I wanted that kind of miracle for me.
When my desire to really get out of the porn trap happened, I told a friend that I wanted that type of “instant miracle”, “instant change”.
He said: “I believe, sometimes, the church is selling something that manufacturing isn’t making.”
That sounded kinda harsh. But I think there is some truth there.
Some get healed instantly, everything gets better quickly.
For others, the process is a long one. A journey to healing and wellness.
If it wasn’t a journey…
If there weren’t daily choices…
If it was just an instant miracle…
For me, there would not have been any opportunity to notice these other miracles that I never paid attention to before.
Mine has been a Long Slow Miracle, filled with smaller miracles.
Many of them were right under my nose that I never noticed.
