Ok.
In 2010 I am trying the Chris Brogan style of goal setting. He suggests picking three words, and setting goals related to those words. The words are a simple way to remind you of your goals that you have fleshed out (SMART goals – here’s some ideas on setting goals as a couple).
I had more than three words for myself this year – so I’ve already gone off course. Woo Hoo! Here are my words for 2010:
Health – Relational: Focus on my marriage. Focus on making friends who aren’t only “work” related.
Spiritual: I feel inconsistent with my walk with God. I would like to be in a good strong place again with Him by year end which means more time in the Bible individually and as a family.
Physical: By 3/1/10, I will lose 10 lbs, by walking three times a week, and limiting my crazy excess carb intake. I am participating in the Improve yourself 2010 challenge at Engaged Marriage (you can join up too!) and this was my smart goal for that challenge.
Simplify - Life seems crowded. I long for simplicity – and will be working to simplify several things, starting with my desk. Wow, its a mess!
Satisfied – I spend lots of “mental” time in the future. And the past. What is the quote - “I’ve been thru several terrible things in my life, and a couple of them actually happened!” I get caught up in my thinking. While I continue to work on making myself and other things better, I don’t want to beat myself up for the way things currently ‘are’.
Gratitude – I can’t do things alone. I want to be more grateful for the people and the things I have in my life.
Build - I believe this is a year to build some things. Build this blog, build my opportunities to share with others what a blessing a Stupendous Marriage can be, to continue building a healthy marriage and family. Excited about building stuff!
Fingerprints - I want to see results of things that I am a part of this year. My fingerprints are going to be on several things – so I want to have wisdom about where I place my fingerprints – that they are the right opportunities and experiences that will help me further in my journey.
What goals did you set for yourself this year?

I'd never heard that quote before, but I LOVE it because it's so true. I also am thinking about gratitude, mostly about remembering to tell the awesome people in my life that they are truly awesome. Thanks for an inspiring post.
Thanks for joining the Improve Yourself challenge, Stu! I look forward to working alongside you and meeting our fitness goals. No more chubby hubbies!
I am looking forward to the challenge Dustin! Great idea!
