Hey Kristin!

'5 Love Languages' is a great book!!! Lisa's was easy - she is a "service" person. I, on the other hand, have 3 that are pretty equal - affirmation, touch and gifts. I was talking with Tony DiLorenzo (@oneonfire) and he suggested that I try and figure out which one I wouldn't miss. So that got me thinking...I can do without the 'gifts' part...so now I am down to 2...still working on which one is my top spot!!

I think even if Affirmation isn't your "top" love language - there needs to be healthy communication and positive speaking going on in general!!

So, as part of the Improve Yourself Challenge from Engaged Marriage, I listed being more intentional in my marriage. But it's of course very relevant to this challenge too (and you let me eat chocolate!).

I've been reading The 5 Love Languages and have learned that my husband is a "Words of Affirmation" guy. So I've worked really hard to notice the things he does and compliment or thank him for it. Because let's face it, I'm a lucky woman and my husband does a LOT around the house with cleaning and the kids.

It's a little unnatural for me, because I feel like we should be doing these things anyway and shouldn't have to thank each other every time someone does the dishes or takes out the trash (my primary love language is not words of affirmation). But I have noticed a significant difference in my husband when I do speak his love language by remembering to thank him regularly. It's made a big difference.
